Weekend Crime Wrap Up

The Naperville Police Department is investigating two incidents from the weekend with suspects still at large. On Friday evening two men attempted to steal a purse on the 200 block of South Main Street. A woman and her husband were approached by two white males in their 20s. One of them pushed the woman while attempting to grab her purse. The victim was able to hold onto her purse, which led the suspects to flee on foot. The woman suffered minor injuries from being pushed to the ground. Officers were unable to locate the two suspects.

And on Saturday morning, a home invasion occurred on the 1300 block of Danada Court, where an unknown black male reportedly entered a residence through an open garage door. No one was injured in the incident and the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Both investigations are ongoing and the NPD is asking anyone who has information regarding either incident to contact them at (630) 420-6666.

5K Run & Public Safety Open House

The Naperville Fire Department started Saturday with their second annual Stop, Drop and Run 5K Run. The event raises funds for the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance’s Camp “I Am Me,” which is for young people who have experienced burn injuries. Following the 5K was the Public Safety Open House. Attendees were able to learn about safety precautions to take when using electricity, create free ID’s for children, and view fire demonstrations.

Harvest Pow Wow

This weekend, Native American culture was brought to life at Naper Settlement for the 25th annual Harvest Pow Wow. Visitors learned all about cultural and tribal beliefs of Native Americans, such as praying through the spirit fire and learning about the spirit of animals. But the main attraction was the dancing, which included Laura Grizzlypaws, the only female Grizzly Bear Dancer in North America.
