Lauren Underwood Town Hall
Representative Lauren Underwood hosted a Town Hall at the 95th Street Library to talk about issues faced by senior citizens. The meeting began with Underwood letting attendees know what bills she is working on passing such as the Social Security 2100 Act that ensures enough money will be available to current and future generations. She then turned the microphone over to the public to hear their feedback and concerns on issues like healthcare.
NPD Unsafe Driving Crackdown
The Naperville Police Department is teaming up with Illinois State Police and other local law enforcement agencies to crackdown on unsafe driving through Labor Day weekend. The NPD is reminding residents to never let friends or family members drive drunk, as even a small amount of alcohol can impair judgment. And when you are driving, make sure you’re wearing a seatbelt and staying attentive.
Convoy at Cantigny
Dozens of historic military vehicles are making their way through DuPage County. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the U.S. Army’s first motor convoy across the country, the vehicles are traveling from Washington D.C. to San Francisco in a monthlong journey. They’re available for viewing today at Cantigny Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and tomorrow at the DuPage County Fairgrounds.
NCC Football Honors
With college football just around the corner, four North Central College players recently received preseason honors from d3football.com. Senior quarterback and CCIW Offensive player of the year Broc Rutter was named a third team preseason All-American along with his favorite target, junior wide receiver Andrew Kamienski. Junior defensive end Tommy Hyland was also named to the preseason third team, while junior offensive lineman Sharmore Clarke was named a first team preseason All-American. The fifth-ranked Cardinals will open their 2019 season on September 7 at Christopher Newport University.
