Those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty were recognized at the annual Citizens Appreciate Public Safety, or CAPS awards.
This spring ceremony awarded outstanding Naperville Police Department personnel for their contributions to the City and efforts made toward the well being of all citizens.
Several police department awards were given throughout the evening, along with the Board of Fire and Police Commissioner’s Officer of the Year Award, the George Pradel Award for Public Service, and five CAPS awards.
“It’s good just to do the duty itself. The award is just a bonus. It’s an honor to put up for it and I’m glad that my FTO was nice enough to put me in for it,” said Officer Daniel Lukensmeyer, the recipient of the George Pradel Award.
All of those honored were nominated by Naperville residents.
There’s also a CAPS awards ceremony held in the fall to recognize Naperville firefighters and paramedics.
