Senator Dick Durbin Holds Town Hall in Naperville

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin hosted a town hall with more than 300 people at Wentz Concert Hall at North Central College in Naperville.

He answered questions on topics ranging from his opinion on President Donald Trump to the state of health care in America.

Much of his talk focused on the Affordable Care Act, which he is in favor of, although he says it needs improvement.

Durbin also discussed concerns about racism in America following recent protests in Charlottesville.

“We shouldn’t be stuck in the 19th Century in a debate on slavery,” said Durbin. “We ought to bring it to the 21st Century. And when it comes to jobs and when it comes to voting rights, we have an agenda that we need to really stand up for across America, but it’ll have special resonance in the African American community.”

Durbin ended the event by saying town hall meetings like his are important, and he encourages other elected officials to hold more.
