Metea Valley and DeKalb travel to Naperville North for a tri-swim meet as the Huskies celebrate senior night before diving in to the pool.
200 Yard Freestyle
First off the block is the 200 yard freestyle. It’s anyone’s race at the first turn but North’s Melissa Troy starts to pull ahead halfway through. And then she is able to build on that lead, tapping in first place in one minute 50 point 59 seconds.
100 Yard Butterfly
Next up is the 100 yard butterfly with Mustang McKenna Stone being the fan favorite. She is able to pull away early and finish in 55 point 75 seconds. Teammate Amanda Schmitt comes in second.
100 Yard Freestyle
In the pool now is the 100 yard free. In the last 20 yards it’s a three way race down to the finish. Metea’s Kellie Willwhite edges out her teammate Aimee Patterson by point 3 seconds in 54 point 60 seconds. North’s Cambria Swanson finishes in third.
200 Yard Freestyle Relay
Final race diving in is the 200 yard freestyle relay. The huskies are able to jump out to the early lead and they keep it through most of the race, until the anchors go off the blocks. Then Metea’s Aimee Patterson takes the race over and swims the mustangs to victory. As they just edge out Naperville North by 5 points.
