D204 Budget
At last night’s Indian Prairie School District 204 board meeting, the group passed the 2020 school budget. Chief School Business Official, Jay Strang and Comptroller Matthew Shipley presented to the board. The budget includes the district receiving $970,118 from evidence based funding, which is an increase from last year. Also of note, there was an increase from local sources of almost $60 million in taxes from new property last year. Staff salaries and benefits also increased due to additional staff and escalating health care costs. You can view the tentative budget on the district’s website, which is the same as the final budget.
Remembering Paul Gamboa
The D204 board also began with a moment of silence to honor Paul Gamboa, who died on September 13. Gamboa served as president of the D204 teacher’s union, Indian Prairie Education Association.

Developer Ryan Companies and Naperville city staff went over several aspects of the concept, including affordable housing, green space, and parking. Feedback from the steering committee and the public will be presented to Naperville City Council at a future meeting.
Local MLB Stars
If you’ve lost hope in the Cubs and White Sox as Major League Baseball approaches the end of the regular season, there are still several local players on MLB rosters to keep your interest. Neuqua Valley graduate Mike Gerber is getting playing time in the outfield with the San Francisco Giants. Naperville Central alum Nicky Lopez is the starting 2nd baseman for the Kansas City Royals and Naperville North grad Nick Solak has been one of the hottest hitters for the Texas Rangers. The former Huskie is batting over .300 with five home runs since his debut last month.
