From 8 – 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, Naper Settlement opens its doors for free to people who want to walk its grounds.
Members of the Wednesday Walking Club enjoy the scenery of the settlement and the friendships they make there.
“Well I love to walk and I wanted to meet some new friends and I have met several lovely ladies and it’s good for a person,” said club member Lorraine Head.
“We’ve developed a good walking friendship and we like to stay healthy and we love the community,” said Michelle Ryan, before Linda McShea, who she was walking with added “It’s a beautiful environment to walk in, we love the settlement.”
“This year I’m walking with two lovely ladies and we’ve been walking together for three years now,” said Julie Cunningham, who has been participating since the club’s creation in 2014.
Walkers log their time, not distance, after each walk.
For every 240 minutes they log, they’re given a free ticket to a Naper Settlement event.
To join the club, all you need to do is show up, sign in, and take a walk.
Walks run from April through October.
