We begin the Thanksgiving Tip Off Tournament at Naperville Central with Marian Central facing off against the redhawks. This is the first home game for central and the first game of the season for Marian Central.
First Half
First quarter action, Marian Central looking down low but Naperville Central’s Emily Spisak takes the ball away and pass down court to Melby who stops and hits the triple. Naperville Central leads early 11-2.
Naperville Central’s defense not quitting in the first. Next play and Lauren Umbright steals the pass and cruises in for the lay-up. 13-2 now.
Still in the first quarter, sophomore Aditi Prasad comng out to get open and then hit the long range three. Central goes on a 20-0 run, leading 20-2.
Hurricanes trying to fight to stay in the game. Morgan Laudick hits the rim and then gets the friendly bounce to get the three points. Marian Central trails 34-10.
Seems to be all about the three pointers in the first half. As time is winding down, Prasad passes to Sarah Opalka who makes a move and hits the buzzer beater three. Naperville leads 39-12 at the break.
Second Half
Coming out of the break and it’s more of the same. Prasad is making some noise, she shakes her defender and lands another three pointer to extend the redhawks lead 50-20.
The redhawks just keep on rolling through this one… Kaitlyn Allen makes a nice bounce pass to Keke Dean under the basket who lands the lay in. Central grabs the easy victory 63-32.
