Once a month Representative Kifowit hosts a Third Thursday event at 6 p.m. at the Eola Branch of the Aurora Public Library.
“Third Thursdays are to bring in experts from around the state. So I give an update from the State of Illinois perspective, what’s happening that month. And then I participate with these experts, answering questions to the best of my ability, or having them answer questions and concerns that residents bring,” said Representative Kifowit, who represents District 84 in the Illinois House of Representatives.
This month the meeting was focused on helping those with developmental disabilities and their caregivers get connected to resources in our community. Panelists included the Director of the Department of Human Services, the Executive Director of the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association and the Associate Director for the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities.
Those in attendance got to learn more about each organization and ask questions. Next month’s topic is the Illinois budget.
